was trained in Theatre Arts at Humboldt
State University ,
Arcata , CA ,
and graduated in 1972 under the direction of Richard Rothrock. His major area
of study was film-making and he produced and directed several award winning
documentaries. After graduating he was invited to cut news film in San Francisco at KGO
Television, part of the ABC network.. He moved up the ranks and ended up
cutting all of the news footage of the Patty Hearst kidnapping. The Patty
Hearst stories her cut eventually aired on national television. He moved on to Hollywood and worked in
news, and the television shows, and the landed the senior editor’s position on
day one of Entertainment Tonight, also known as ET.. He worked with Leonard
Maltin, Dixie Whatley and Mary Hart, and others, first at the
Merv Griffin Studios in Hollywood , and then on
the Paramount lot.
